This raw Larimar nodule (with the one side polished) comes from the Dominican Republic. I have had it in my personal collection since I started carving in 2017, and the mines have closed since then. I have held onto it in hopes that one day I would have enough experience to carve it - but since then having smaller pieces to practice on, I wonder if many of the carved pieces have been reinforced with a fracture sealant. When working with raw, natural pieces, I find the stone has a tenancy to chip away in pieces. Since this realization, I knew I would never be able to bring myself to carve a beautiful piece.
