This uknown blue stone cabochon was hand carved by me in a freeform cushion shape. So the story is that I bought this from a supplier at a rock and gem show over 4 years ago now - it was sold to me as Turquoise but since my experience with carving I now question it. It was chalky on the outside (raw stone image in last picture) and contains some parts that are very soft and some that are almost as hard as quartz. I open ended asked on my Instagram account and thoughts on this material ranged from Chrysocolla to Chrysoprase. Without actually testing it I will never know, but what I do know is that blue stones are usually due to copper bearing minerals being present. This stone is gorgeous no matter the name ;)
