This Shah Maghsood coffin was hand carved by myself -- This stone originates from Afghanistan. Assumed to be a Serpentine, recently the owner of Divine Gems had a piece tested at UVIC, and stated they were not quite sure - possibly Actinolite which would be interesting. Someone mentioned Bowenite - and there is actually a mine in Afghanistan - so maybe the word changed during translation or it is it's own name or a trade name? Either way, this stone has an incredible texture--like a greasy feeling that obviously doesn't rub off--very nice to touch! I drilled a hole just over 2.5mm in the side of the pendant so that the chain runs sideways through it, not in the front! The last image is a sample of this style paired with others for a visual reference.
